The Experience
This is our best-selling day trip, and it is conducted by a professional English-speaking driver, who will pick you up at the agreed time and place, hotel or residence, to drive you through the southern Tuscany countryside in an elegant brand-new Mercedes vehicle. Amidst breathtaking views, great art, delicious food, and excellent wine, you will experience a unique and unforgettable excursion!
You will travel to Pienza, a small village, in the famous Val d’Orcia, commonly called “The ideal Renaissance Town“. and “The Town of Light”. It is situated on a hill from which you can admire the whole valley. In addition to the panorama, Pienza is full of places of great charm: Palazzo Borgia, which houses the Diocesan Museum, Palazzo Piccolomini, the Spadaletto Castle, and many other places to visit at your leisure. Ridley Scott chose an esplanade to the south of the city to shoot the beginning and final scenes of ‘The Gladiator’ with Russell Crowe. Pienza is also the town that gives the name to a famous cheese, Pecorino di Pienza, known all over the world for its soft taste, delicious flavour, and ingredient in many Tuscan recipes
From Pienza, you will continue to Montepulciano, a 20-minute drive through beautiful countryside with rolling hills, acres of vineyards, and the typical farmhouses of the area. Montepulciano is a charming, typically Renaissance town, perched on the ridge of a tuff hill, famous throughout the world for its “Vino Nobile”, a deep ruby red wine celebrated by poets, oenologists, and sommeliers. On this tour, you will see Piazza Grande, Palazzo Comunale, the Cathedral of Santa Assunta, the Church of San Biagio, the Medici Fortress, and much more.
You will have a good lunch, drink excellent local red wine, and do some shopping before making the way back to the hotel.
We suggest wearing comfortable shoes and appropriate clothes for visiting churches, monuments, and museums.

Itinerary
MORNING
- Pick up at 8 am at hotels or B&B and drive to Pienza for 2 hours and 30 minutes
- 9.30 am stop on the highway for restroom and coffee break
- 10.30 am arrive at Pienza and visit the town with break for free cheese tasting
- 12.15 departure to Montepulciano with a drive of 20 minutes and stop for lunch
AFTERNOON
- Lunch at the restaurant “Gattavecchi” with wine aging grottoes of the 12th century, and a chance to taste “Nobile” red local wine
- 2.30 pm, visit the town of Montepulciano, and time for shopping
- 3.30/ 45, drive back to Rome
- 6 pm drop off back to the hotel
