The Experience
Dear guests, this is one of the most requested tours, and it is conducted by an English-speaking driver who is also an official tour guide of Rome. It’s an amazing tour among the hundreds of fountains, sloping terraces, and hanging gardens of Villa D’Este, and the impressive remains of the imperial residence built by the Roman emperor Hadrian, a huge archaeological area with outstanding buildings such as thermal baths, summer dining areas, and porticos of spectacular beauty.
You will be met at your hotel or any other location of your convenience in the city center of Rome, at 9 or 10 am, and you will make your way to Tivoli in a comfortable and elegant Mercedes vehicle for this extraordinary tour to discover the history and features of the two villas of Tivoli.
The transfer to the villa takes approximately 45 minutes, after which you will begin your visit to the impressive remains of Hadrian’s Villa. Your guide will explain why the villa was built on this particular site in the Roman countryside and how it later became a true architectural and landscape example of a fusion of styles, mostly from Egypt and Greece. Artistic influences inspired Hadrian, and we will have the pleasure of exploring a villa of timeless beauty.
There will be time for lunch
After about two hours, you will be headed to the center of Tivoli to visit Villa d’Este, a Renaissance masterpiece that is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guide will take you on a tour of the many Italian-style gardens that have inspired their design throughout Europe. You will walk on the terraces, admire the views, and be enchanted by the numerous fountains and their exciting water.
