The Experience
This 2-day experience is the best option ever to visit Rome and see the most famous masterpieces, monuments, and museums. It is conducted by a professional and licensed English-speaking driver-guide with a comfortable Mercedes vehicle.
The first day’s itinerary includes a visit to the Pantheon, to see from the inside what was once the temple of the Twelve Gods, and the famous ‘oculus’ in the center of the dome, the only source of light in the building itself. You will then visit the very famous Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, and the square and with the ‘Barcaccia’ fountain at the center. You will continue towards the Altare della Patria, Italy’s national monument.
After a lunch break, your guide will take you to the Colosseum, the symbol of Rome to the world, the amphitheatre where gladiators and wild animals competed to entertain spectators and emperors. We continue our journey to the Roman Forum, seen from the Capitol, an archaeological area with buildings and monuments of ancient Rome. The last stop of our first day is the Circus Maximus and the famous ‘Keyhole’.
Our second day begins with the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel (St. Peter’s Basilica can be added to the tour by an extra fee) some of Rome’s greatest masterpieces. We continue to the Janiculum Hill, the terrace of Rome, and then to Piazza Navona.
After a lunch break, we head to the Via Appia Antica to enter the Catacombs and discover the secrets of the ancient Roman crypts. Finally, we visit San Pietro in Vincoli, the basilica that houses Michelangelo’s statue of Moses and the chains that bound St Peter.
