Civitavecchia port round trip to Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio by Mercedes limousine and professional English-speaking driver

The Experience

A professional English-speaking driver will be waiting for you at the cruise ship ramp to take you to Civita and Orvieto in spacious Mercedes vehicles. During the journey, the driver will give you valuable advice on what to visit according to the time available.

Arriving in Civita will take your breath away. The Etruscan city was built on a hill of tufa stone and its sides are slowly crumbling due to natural erosion and earthquakes. To reach it, you have to cross a concrete bridge that leads to a magical reality suspended in the clouds, still preserving the charm of medieval buildings and ancient churches. It is called “the dying city” not only because of the inexorable fate that awaits it but also because of the few inhabitants who still live there.

You then head to Orvieto, another ancient historical city situated on a plateau. In addition to the many architectural works from different periods, including the Duomo, and the wonderful panorama, Orvieto is famous for its underground passages. On this tour, you can take advantage of an official English-speaking guide to visit the underground tunnels for an extraordinary journey into the past.

At lunchtime, your driver will recommend wineries where you can taste one of Italy’s most famous white wines, or typical restaurants built in tuff caves. At the end of the tour, you will return to the port of Civitavecchia.

We advise you to wear comfortable shoes and clothes suitable for places of worship. A pdf document with historical information about the city and its monuments is available.
